Mobile Modular Laboratory
ELEVATIONS
A Temporary Space for Researchers
A hypothetical group of scientists are to spend an undisclosed amount of time in the United Republic of Tanzania researching Eco-Tourism. Materials and labor for this temporary research facility are to be easily handled and easily constructed. The structure is temporary & transient in nature.
The main timber structure is raised off the Earth by concrete piers, with a secondary timber members forming the rest of the shell of the space. Poly carbonate panels form the walls and the roof of the research facility, with the roof pitching in order to catch rainwater for research and use.
Translucent slices along the roof panels accentuate the vertical structure as the sun crosses the roof plane. The longitudinal facades of the structure are shaded by operable wooden screens which provide shade during the day, and further accentuate the architecture when illuminated during the evening.
